There are various Christmas themed team building activities available and this year there seems to be a trend to do something business relevant instead of the traditional Christmas party because it seems less frivolous.

One obvious option is Christmas chocolate making, or a festive themed cooking event. This is a good choice because it is also an indoor event. Treasure hunts can be themed and there is a Hunt The Turkey event where the objective is to collect ingredients such as sprouts, parsnips and stuffing by completing various team challenges before a grand finale of hunting down a person is a turkey costume hiding in the grounds of a hotel. This is great fun, as you can imagine.

Fun Christmas team building activities can be combined with a Christmas lunch or just mince pies and mulled wine to give a festive event for a team which is a business linked event rather than just a jolly. You don’t have to miss out on the fun either – most people will find it a refreshing change.

Go Mad In The Country was developed by Progressive Resources, The Team Building Company, as a fun activity to combine a treasure hunt with a murder mystery. The storyline is based on the Comic Strip’s parody of the famous five, Five Go Mad In Dorset.

Clients arrive to meet Uncle Quentin, a government scientist, who is fairly quickly murdered. They then go off to find suspects and clues with the aim of solving the murder. This works well in any location but it was developed in the New Forest to be done on mountain bikes. Clients get very involved, some even dressing up for the part in school uniforms. Each team has a toy ‘Timmy The Dog’who goes around with them and has to be included in the photographs.

The best events are like stages on which the clients act out their experience. This shared experience means that they get very personal highlights from the day and some still remember their Go Mad experience years after it happened.
