What is an Optical Illusion?

For those of you who aren’t really sure what an Optical Illusion is, it is defined as:

“something that is characterized by visually perceived images that differ from objective reality. The information gathered by the eye is processed in the brain to give a perception that does not tally with a physical measurement of the stimulus source”

…Well that’s about as clear as mud so in basic term’s it’s basically “an image that messes with your brain!” Optical Illusions can come in many different forms and may well be perceived differently by different individuals. Here are some Optical Illusions that will get your brain thinking:

Frog or Horse? Tilt your head and see…

How many legs do you see?

Attacked by a giant wine bottle!

So, as part of our ever popular Tablet Treasure Hunts, we challenge teams to take a photo of themselves creating/or being part of an “Optical Illusion.” Teams are awarded additional points for creativity, humour and originality and the end result looks brilliant if done well! (Equally, it can look like you are a bunch of crazy people if done badly!)

Below, we have put together a gallery of some of our favourite Optical Illusion photos taken from, good and bad, from 2014. So take a look and feel free to share any comments below. If you think you can do better, post your photos on our Facebook page or Tweet it to @teambuilding_co.
