Team Building Activity

Team building activities can be very effective at helping people to understand and improve their time management skills. The principal behind many tasks is that the teams have limited resources with which to complete a task. This will include equipment and information but they can also have limited time with which to complete a task.

Often work teams work on large projects that last for months or even years. It can be valuable to have a challenge that lasts for a short period that can be easily observed and lessons learned. If a team is not used to working to tight time schedules they may, for example, spend so long planning the task that they don’t have enough time to complete it. This is just one example of a problem that may c0me out, others include not planning enough and being too impulsive or overdesigning the solution and failing because they have too much to do when solving a relatively simple problem.

Reflecting on what happens in the task and then linking that to issues within the team at work can be very helpful and, because the activity is enjoyable, the learning is often more effective. Find out more about activities that can help with time management on The Team Building Company’s website.

I think time management improves as a result of building trust and communication. An effective exercise forces folks to avoid arguments and use each other’s strengths.

Having worked with teams on many projects, I can vouch for the fact that time management is a rare skill. Teams need to be coached to effectively plan and execute to their goals. Thanks for sharing this. Cheers!

Time management was a craze of the eighties, people who time managed with great focus lost sight of the most important focus of all and that was the people. Yes it has great benefits but with putting the needs of others in focus as well time management breaks down
