A word cloud featuring the benefits of team building.

The Benefits Of Team Building

Here’s a word cloud that we put together showing some of the benefits of team building. All of our events are great fun and the team will take away some great shared memories.

There are also business benefits; hard and soft concepts, some measurable but mostly anecdotal. This word cloud captures some of those benefits.

It is interesting that “Adrenaline” is the largest word here. I definitely know there are times when Team Building exercises trigger that shared apprehension between the various members, but often that actually helps the exercise to work even better.

Good TeamBuilding Activity

Adrenaline, energize, motivation … all positive words. Team building is not just socialize or relax, but also an intense period, according to your word cloud. I hope everyone is up to the challenge.

Nice words, would love to see ‘self-reflection’ among them. Isn’t that what team-building is about too? Using others as a mirror (you only notice shortcomings or talents in others that you have yourself) is a great part of team-building.

This was just our brainstorm, but self-reflection is a great addition.

Didn’t see any negative words here at all. Definitely shows the positive side of team-building exercises. Doesn’t seem like there is a downside!

James Coakes - January 27, 2012

I wonder what the negative words would be?

I am always split about team building exercises. Often they create a lot of fake behaviour. However, I have been at one or two that have been really good.

All great words and I love their positive message. Two words I thought I’d see and didn’t: “change” and “learning”. No matter how fun and exciting the event is, if the workers don’t change and learn something new, it was largely a waste…

James Coakes - January 27, 2012

Yes, change and learning should definately be there.

I agree with all comments , but, for me Entertainment is word number one. Why ? I think that , from time to time, you have to forget to your job, have some fun with your coworkers.

Without inspiration our powers of the mind remain silent. Coming together, sharing together, working together, succeeding together. Best teamwork
