Conference Ice Breaker

Conference icebreakers are fun activities used, literally, to break the ice at the beginning of conferences and events. The activities are usually quick paced, lively and designed to maximise interaction between delegates. They are also used to energise groups.

Tangles is one example of an effective conference icebreaker. The group is divided into small teams of half a dozen or so people. These people are all linked together by way of a pair of rope handcuffs. The objective is to untangle your team without taking your hand out of the loops. The result ranges from acrobatics to the proverbial tangle, but always a lot of laughter.

The image on the right shows The Rollercoaster Challenge. In this exercise teams use tubes of recycled newspaper to build a rollercoaster, which always becomes an incredible Heath Robinson sort of invention.

Chocolate making is one of the big events of this year. Another trend has been for companies to hold their events close to their office and not go away to a hotel and add an overnight stay.

The London Art House

We do a lot of our London events at The London Art House in Islington. They are conveniently located and they welcome event companies, where some venues can be less than helpful.

There are plenty of rooms of all sizes and it is a unique and interesting venue, so you really feel as though you’re on an ‘event’. Catering packages can be designed to suit any taste and budget and there are some highly competitive packages on offer for corporate groups.

Chocolate making is the ideal London event, you don’t have to go far to experience one of the best team building activities on offer.

Christmas Team Building Activities December 3, 2009

There are various Christmas themed team building activities available and this year there seems to be a trend to do something business relevant instead of the traditional Christmas party because it seems less frivolous.

One obvious option is Christmas chocolate making, or a festive themed cooking event. This is a good choice because it is also an indoor event. Treasure hunts can be themed and there is a Hunt The Turkey event where the objective is to collect ingredients such as sprouts, parsnips and stuffing by completing various team challenges before a grand finale of hunting down a person is a turkey costume hiding in the grounds of a hotel. This is great fun, as you can imagine.

Fun Christmas team building activities can be combined with a Christmas lunch or just mince pies and mulled wine to give a festive event for a team which is a business linked event rather than just a jolly. You don’t have to miss out on the fun either – most people will find it a refreshing change.
