Team Ski is a regular fun team building activity on Crystal Challenges and Command Task events. It is typically one of several activities and the group is divided into equal teams to attempt each challenge in a rotation.

Team Ski
The team has to ride the skis around an obstacles course with four or five of them all on the same pair of special skis. It’s a challenge of communication and teamwork.
This is one challenge where many teams are inclined to make it more complicated than it needs to be. This provides an opportunity for a discussion after the activity on overengineering solutions, if that is relevant to the team.
Another interesting version is to have a team on the skis with a manager who is helping them with the task. You can add another person and call them the consultant. The team represents the business process, or factory floor. It’s interesting to watch all of this happening and debrief afterwards.
Or you can just do it for fun!

Film making works very well as a fun team building event. There’s a clear objective and various elements to the task, so teams have to divide the work out and play to their strengths.

Film Making Team Building Activity
The brief can either be something business linked, for example an advert or documentary, or recreating a famous film. In the image they are recreating Grease.
Props and costumes add to the creativity of the event and it can be turned into quite a production.
The film can be watched over dinner on the evening of the event, which is something that participants look forward to and really enjoy.
This can be built in to an Oscars themed night with chocolate trophies and emotional acceptance speeches.
As always the highlights of this event are unscripted. It’s the in jokes and interpersonal relationships that bring the house down and ultimately build a team.

Pulse Ranger is an electronic combat game in which players use a rifle which fires a long range pinpoint beam but which also has a shorter range grenade launcher for a wider spread. This makes for a very strategic game and it’s ideal for a fun team building activity.

Pulse Ranger combat game
The Pulse Ranger game is a replacement activity for paintball, which has the advantage of being safe and environment friendly. It is ideal as a conference breakout activity as it can be run on site if the hotel has a suitable interesting area of land. Ideally this would be a wooded area, but it would work well in a car park playing around the cars. It would be incredible at night in a multi story car park!

Cooking is the big trend in team building at the moment. There are several reasons for this; it appeals to a broad church, it’s a tranferable life skill that people want to learn more about and, importantly, in the current climate it doesn’t seem so frivolous as some other activities.

Cookery Team Building
So, how does team building cooking event work? It’s pretty straight forward, as you can imagine. The team is set a challenge and must prepare a meal. Variables will include the size of the team and time scale, so with larger events teams may be divided into starters, main courses and sweets. In some cases the team may be running a simulated restaurant, so decoration, menus and even business plans come into the event. It’s very flexible specific goals can be included.
Versions on the theme can include Chinese food, or any nationality and even international themes. Imagine a huge event themed on cookery from around The World.
Another very popular event is chocolate making, but that has so much potential that it deserves an entry all of its own. Watch this space!

Ribs at The Needles
A land, sea and air event does what it says on the box. Part of the event is on the land, for example off road driving, Segways or any number of event combinations. Another part is on the sea on board yachts or ribs and then the final element is a sensational ride in a helicopter.
The whole event is co-ordinated so that teams move from section to section in a high tempo and unforgettable day of pure adrenaline. You can even transfer between yachts on ribs.

Air Squirrel helicopter.
This is a high profile event at the top end of the budget. However, for sophisticated clients who have experienced a lot of different activities it is an ideal selection. It’s an event that people will not want to miss.
There are some excellent hotels in the New Forest area including The Chewton Glen, Rhinefield House and The Grand Harbour in Southampton.

- Enjoying quad biking
You can give a business justification for many team building activities; whether it’s improving teamwork, promoting leadership or encouraging communication. With quad bikes it’s hard to come up with any serious business outcome to link it to without being spurious.
So, there it is, quad bikes are a fun event and that’s the end of it. The company you work for thinks enough of you to book an activity purely for your enjoyment. You feel valued, rewarded and return to work motivated and more productive.
That’s quite a justification.
